Choose a first aid course that’s right for you

Everyone can benefit from knowing first aid skills, and anyone can take part in a first aid course. A situation requiring first aid can occur anywhere, anytime. When it does, it is important that you know how to act and have the courage to help. Anyone, whether an adult or a child, can learn to save a life.

FRC Emergency First Aid 8 h, FRC Emergency First Aid 4 h and the FRC Emergency First Aid 4 h online course teach you the basic skills needed for reacting to sudden life-threatening situations that require emergency first aid.

Emergency first aid refers to life-saving first aid.

The number in the course title refers to the duration of the training in hours. For example, FRC Emergency First Aid 4 is  a four-hour course on the basics of emergency first aid. FRC Emergency First Aid 8 h is a more extensive one-day emergency first aid course which includes instruction not only for life-saving first aid but also for first aid for sudden illnesses and wounds and burns, for instance.

The FRC Emergency First Aid 4 h online course covers the basics of emergency first aid and is studied independently on a computer or smart device. You can take the course at your own pace on the online platform regardless of place and time. Emergency first aid courses are meant for anyone who wants to learn life-saving skills. You may need these skills at home, on the street, at work, in your free time and anywhere you go.

You can take an emergency first aid course without prior first aid training or you can use the course to refresh your first aid skills. The course also allows you to update your FRC First Aid Course EA 1® or FRC First Aid Course EA 2® qualifications once.

Our most popular and renowned first aid training is the FRC First Aid Course EA 1®, which is a extensive and practical basic first aid course. The course lasts for two days and includes a wide variety of first aid topics, such as poisonings, fractures and psychological first aid, in addition to the basics of emergency first aid.

On the course, you will do a lot of practical exercises that will teach you to act in situations requiring first aid and give you the courage to help.

FRC First Aid Course EA 1® is suitable for anyone who wants to gain good knowledge and skills in providing first aid in various types of emergency situations. You can take the course without prior first aid training or you can use the course to refresh your first aid skills.

The basics of first aid can be learnt on this course:

FRC First Aid Course EA 2® is a first aid continuation course that you can participate in as long as you have a valid FRC First Aid Course EA 1® qualification. The course revisits the emergency first aid skills you have already learnt, after which you move on to more advanced topics.

The practical exercises done during the course will teach you how to resuscitate a baby, a child and a drowned person, for example. You will learn to provide first aid for sudden illnesses, cold or heat-induced injuries as well as spinal injuries. The course will train you to be prepared to operate in demanding conditions.

FRC First Aid Course EA 2® provides good first aid skills for recreational activities, such as horse riding, diving or downhill skiing, which involve a specific accident risk.

First aid course completion path

It is possible to upgrade the Red Cross first aid courses for the following three years with emergency first aid courses.

Your previous qualification must be valid when you want to upgrade your competence.

You can follow the order below when taking the first aid courses.

After that, the round starts from the beginning again. The certificates of competence obtained from the trainings are valid for three years at a time. If you follow the suggested order, your first aid qualification will remain valid for 12 years before you need to restart from the beginning.

You complete FRC First Aid Course EA 1®

You will receive the FRC First Aid Course EA 1® certificate.

After three years, you can take the FRC Emergency First Aid 4 h online course, which updates the FRC First Aid Course EA 1® qualification for another three years.

You will receive the FRC Emergency First Aid 4 h certificate, which works together with the FRC First Aid Course EA 1® certificate as proof of the validity of the qualification.

After three years, you can take the FRC First Aid Course EA 2®.

You will receive the FRC First Aid Course EA 2® certificate.

After three years, take the FRC Emergency First Aid 8 h course, which extends the FRC First Aid Course EA 2® qualification an additional three years.

You will receive the FRC Emergency First Aid 8 h certificate, which works together with the FRC First Aid Course EA 2® certificate as proof of the validity of the qualification.
